What is PacketStream Lite?

A focused, self-serve VPS product from the team behind PacketStream — built for fast deploys, predictable pricing, and zero ceremony.

3 min read

PacketStream Lite is a self-serve VPS product from the team behind PacketStream — built around a single idea: get a production-ready VM into your hands as fast as possible, at a price you don’t need a calculator for.

It runs on the same physical infrastructure, the same Korea-based network backbone (GSL, Telstra, PCCW, KINX, and the major Korean carriers), and is supported by the same in-house engineering team that has operated PacketStream for the past 6+ years. What’s different is the surface area — Lite strips out everything that isn’t pure compute and replaces it with sane defaults.

Built for one thing

Lite is unapologetically focused. No sales cycle, no quote, no minimum commitment, no enterprise feature checklist to navigate. You sign up, pick a plan, click deploy — your instance is reachable in under 60 seconds. Pricing starts at $6/month for the smallest General tier and scales linearly across five plan families. What you see on the pricing page is exactly what lands on your invoice.

Info

Lite consistently sits at the lower end of the market on $/vCPU and $/GB-RAM for equivalent shapes. The savings come from a focused product surface and an in-house infrastructure stack — not from quietly cutting corners on hardware, network, or support.

How it compares to the full PacketStream platform

PacketStream Lite

Self-serve VPS only. Five plan families, fixed transparent pricing, instant provisioning, sane defaults. Built for developers, indie teams, and small businesses who just want a VM and want it now.

PacketStream (full platform)

Complete cloud and network platform — BGP / BYOIP, dedicated IPLC circuits to mainland China, colocation, cross-connects, custom network engineering, account-managed enterprise contracts. Built for organizations with infrastructure-grade requirements.

Both products run on the same hardware, the same network, and the same operations team. The choice is really about how much surface area you want to deal with — and how fast you want to ship.

When Lite is the right call

  • You need a production-ready VPS without filling out forms or talking to anyone.
  • Predictable, fixed pricing matters more to you than enterprise feature breadth.
  • Your workload fits one of the five plan families (most workloads do).
  • Time-to-deploy beats per-feature configurability for your use case.

When the full platform is the better fit

  • You need to announce your own IP space via BGP / BYOIP.
  • You need a dedicated IPLC line or a custom transit blend.
  • You need physical colocation, cross-connects, or remote hands.
  • You require an account-managed enterprise contract with bespoke terms.

Tip

Not sure which fits? Start with Lite — most workloads never outgrow it. If you do hit the ceiling, our team can help you migrate to the full platform with your data and IPs intact.

What you get out of the box

  • AMD EPYC or ThreadRipper compute, DDR4 ECC REG memory, NVMe SSD storage on every compute family.
  • Premium Korea-based network with GSL, Telstra, PCCW, SK Broadband, LG Dacom, KINX, and other major carriers.
  • 99.99% SLA on network and compute, with service credits applied automatically.
  • In-house support handled by real engineers — no outsourcing, no scripted bots.
  • Stripe-processed billing, traffic credits for overage protection, and dashboard usage alerts so nothing surprises you.
