Sign-in, accounts, and verification
How sign-in works through PacketStream Accounts, when verification can be triggered, and how identity data is handled.
3 min read
PacketStream Lite does not have its own signup flow. Sign-in is handled entirely by PacketStream Accounts — our centralized identity service for every PacketStream product. The first time you visit Lite you are redirected to PacketStream Accounts to sign up or sign in; on every subsequent visit the existing session is reused. The Lite portal never sees your password.
A single PacketStream identity gives you access to Lite, the full PacketStream platform, and any other PacketStream products on the same account. Profile fields like email, display name, and 2FA settings all live in PacketStream Accounts — not in Lite.
Account verification (KYC)
There is no mandatory upfront verification. New accounts can sign in and deploy immediately. Verification only kicks in if our internal abuse-detection logic flags the account — for example, after suspicious deploy patterns, fraud signals, or unusual usage that fails our risk checks.
When that happens, the affected account is asked to verify identity via Stripe Identity before restricted actions can continue. The verification handoff is hosted on the PacketStream Identity site (identity.packet.stream) and the Lite portal will display a banner and gate the affected actions until verification clears. For the vast majority of accounts this never happens.
Info
All identity data submitted during verification is stored encrypted at rest and used only for the verification decision and any regulatory recordkeeping required of us. It is never shared or resold.
Lite is single-user
Lite is a single-user product — one PacketStream identity owns the account, the instances, the billing, and the support relationship. Member invitations, role-based access, and multi-user dashboards are not part of Lite. If true multi-user collaboration is a hard requirement, the full PacketStream platform offers account-managed setups with proper team controls.
